Description
Ball of Feathers by Christina Rollo. The Common Redpoll (Carduelis flammea), is a species of small finch in the arctic tundra. It breeds across the northern parts of North America and Eurasia. These birds are resistant to cold temperatures and migrate south into Canada, northern USA, or Eurasia. Most people in North America only get to see Common Redpolls in winter, when the birds come to feeders to forage. They are friendly birds, not easily scared off as you can see by this photo, this one let me approach closely. Close-up of a Common Redpoll curled up in a ball on green pine needles.

Wow, this is a fantastic close-up of this little bird - love all the details and color of this little fellow. I am so close one can almost feel the downy softness of this curled up Redpoll. Very lovely work L/F.
